13.-16. Mai 2010 Südtirol: Erste Einladung
Wir möchten Sie herzlich einladen zu unserer vierten IÖV-Werkstatt in Südtirol, bei der dieses Jahr "Landschaft und Mensch" Gegenstand unsers Austauschs, Erlebens und unserer gemeinsamen Erfahrung sind.
Der Einfluß der Umwelt auf den Menschen und der Einfluss des Menschen auf die Umwelt sind immer konkret mit einem Ort verbunden, den wir Landschaft nennen. Die Landschaft ist jedoch auch einer Entwicklung unterworfen, die immer mehr technisch-zivilisatorisch beeinflußt ist. Landschaft prägt den Menschen auf vielfältige Weise und wirkt ganz unterschiedlich, stark positiv (Orte der Kraft, Wildbäche..), aber, besonders nach Zerstörung, auch deprimierend. Der Ort unseres Aufwachsens und Wirkens beeinflußt auch wieder unser Weltbild und damit unser Handeln in der Welt.
Die Berg-Landschaften der Alpen eignen sich zur Veranschaulichung besonders, weil hier viel seelisch-geistige Energie freigesetzt wird, weil hier die Veränderungen in den letzten Jahrzehnten besonders groß waren, aber auch, weil hier die "Veränderer" mit den "Bewahrern" oft besonders stark zusammenstoßen.
Das Villnösstal im UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe Dolomiten wird uns in einer vom Alltäglichen bewußt getrennten Umgebung als Erfahrungshintergrund und Gegenstand der Untersuchung in unserem gemeinsamen Erkenntnisprozeß unterstützen, zusammen mit den Fraunhofer Saitenmusikern, einführenden Vorträgen, Austausch in Gesprächskreisen und Werkstattrunden, stillem Sitzen und ungezwungenem abendlichen Zusammensein im gastlichen Hotel Kabis.
Die Werkstatt ist eine Austauschplattform, bei der auch sehr unterschiedliche Ansichten über Ökologie, Ökonomie und Politik, Ästhetik, Natur und Kultur, Spiritualität und Wissenschaft fruchtbar aufeinandertreffen und neue Denkansätze und Erfahrungsmöglichkeiten ermöglichen.
Die Werkstatt richtet sich an alle, die mit, für oder in Ökosystemen im weitesten Sinne arbeiten und ihrer Verantwortung für eine gute Welt bestmöglich gerecht werden wollen.

International Workshop on Climate-Friendly Systems-ClimSys2010 - Successful pathways and examples.
Our time Our time is the time of a great turning, from an industrial growth society towards a life-sustaining one. Signs are climate change, crisis of the world economy, endless expansion of urban areas and rural exodus, extinction of countless species, depletion of land and water resources etc. On the other side we can observe the growing planetary network of civil society, global cooperation and a global awareness, that we all are living on one planet.
The life-sustaining culture, that really integrates the human economic and social systems into the ecological ones on this only planet is on the way. With succesful holistic and climate friendly solutions, for human settlements, for integrated land use, for harmonious cooperation, for deep understanding. Some being old ones, often indigenious, some newer, like that of Valley View University it self, stemming from a fruitful decade of close Ghanaian-German cooperation.
By sharing our know how and collective wisdom in dialogue we will create visions and ways to the implementation of more and more holistic solutions. This kind of ecological engineering means cocreating a world in harmony between man and nature to the benefit of both. It encompasses designing, implementing and maintaining ecosystems, integrating appropriate technologies and sociocultural methods.
In this workshop we will concentrate on settlement ecosystems like ecocities, ecovillages and integrated town and country side-systems etc.
The workshop is part of the joint program "Climate friendly Valley View University, Accra, Ghana" from 2008-2010 in the frame of the Climate Change Initiative of the Federal Government of Germany, financed by the German Ministry for the Environment (BMU). It will encompass the experiences and results of the the implemented measures, that will be shown during the workshop excursion, too.
The workshop will take place at the new Baobab-Center for eco-studies, which was built as part of this Climate Change program. It also will be the start of ecological studies and courses at VVU, the workshop being the first and introductory one.
What you can expect
The workshop will offer you opportunities to show and debate your positive climate-friendly solutions and to get to know those of others.
Presentations will give an introduction and prepare for the following workshop and dialogue rounds, excursions will enable contact to and discussions about realized examples.
Positive examples will stem from holistic spatial and town planning, like In tegrated Water Resources Management and ecocity and ecovillage planning. This will also include highlights of new forms of cooperation, participation, communication and integrated approaches, that involve all the stake holders with all their heart and spirit. All the positive examples and experiences and the enthusiasm involved will vice versa help you to uphold your enthusiasm in your field of activities and will enable you to connect to those persons and organisations for information, support or joint projects as part of an international network.
The workshop itself will be a kind of market of possibilities, the fruits of which all participants will help harvesting by their sharing experiences, recommendations, in sights, positive energy and excitement. The harvest will be made available in a manual for design, implementation and operation of succesful and sustainable climate-friendly settlement-ecosystems for the practitioners.
The participants will come from the various fields dealing with this kind of ecosystems and will represent the various stakeholders in the processes of designing, establishing and operating such systems. This includes the fields of architecture, town and regional planning, landscape ecology, renewable resources and energies, civil services, education, research & development, social-science, social ecology etc. Participating stakeholders will be architects and engineers, politicians, teachers, workers, people from authorities and NGOs.
There is preference for committed participants, which are experienced in the design, implementation and operation of ecosystems. To enable fruitful exchange and interaction the number of participants will be limited.

Background
Our time is the time of a great turning: Climate change, crisis of the world economy, endless expansion of urban areas and slums and rural exodus, depletion of land and water resources being only some of the signs, which are forcing us to reconsider traditional approaches and to look for existing and future alternatives.
The question is: Are there successful sustainable solutions, that really integrate ecology, economy, sociology? Which are intentionally intended to be long-term-solutions and to integrate deep mutual understanding, different traditions, life-styles, cultural backgrounds and technologies. Integrate into a new system, which is in harmony with the surrounding eco-systems and the global ecosystem Gaia.
The answer is: yes, there are successful holistic solutions, for human settlements, for water treatment and cycles, for harmonious cooperation, for real dialogue. Like that of Valley View University itself, which will be part of the Symposium-program.
We are convinced that by sharing our know-how and collective wisdom in dialogue we will create visions and ways to the implementation of more and more successful sustainable solutions.Thus we are cocreating a better world in harmony between man and nature to the benefit of both.
That is what is actually meant by ecological engineering. This approach of engineering systems in a holistic way not only encompasses appropriate technologies like solar energy, constructed wetlands, eco-buildings, but also socio-cultural methods like appreciative enquiry, dialogue, world-cafe, circle etc.
The Symposium is a part of the joint research & development program "Ecological development of Valley View University, Accra, Ghana" from 2003-2009, financed by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). It will encompass the final experiences and results of the the implemented measures that additionally can be seen during the excursion of the Symposium.
What you can expect
The symposium will offer you opportunities to show your positive solutions and to get to know those of others. Ecology-oriented summerschools, trainings and studies, for example, that will be presented and hopefully will add to some new and integrated international courses and studies of ecological engineering and integral development. Other positive examples will stem from holistic spatial and town planning, like Integrated Water Resources Management and ecocity and ecovillage planning, that strongly incorporate quality and mass flow management.
And there will be highlights of new forms of cooperation, participation and communication and newly integrated approaches, involving all stakeholders with all their heart and spirit.
All the positive examples and experiences and the enthusiasm involved will vice versa help you to uphold your enthusiasm in your field of activities and will enable you to connect to those persons and organisations for information, support or joint projects as aprt of an international network.

The following fields are covered among others: architecture, civil services, education, renewable resources, research & development, social-science, spatial planning, watershed management. Participating stakeholders will be architects and engineers, pastors, politicians, researches, teachers and students, workers. People from authorities and NGOs will be included.
We all together will hereby have a deeper look in the necessary preconditions for the sustainability of ecosystems and for the real success of our human endeavors. The harvest will be made available for the participants in a manual for design and operation of succesful and sustainable ecosystems for the practitioner.

Das dafür notwendige bessere Verständnis von Ökosystemen, Bewußtseinsstufen, Kommunikations- und Gruppenprozessen und deren Veränderung wird u.a. durch Erläuterung und Anwendung des U-Prozesses des Massachusets Institute of Technology (Prof. Otto Scharmer und Kollegen) erreicht. Weiter unterstützt werden wir durch die Fraunhofer Saitenmusik (die auch 2 Konzerte geben), das ruhige Villnösstal und die Dolomiten (als Hintergrund und Ort der Erfahrung) und das gemütliche familiäre Hotel. Die Teilnehmer kommen aus den Bereichen von Planung, Ingenieurwesen, Ingenieurökologie, Hochschule, Kunst und Kultur, Metaphysik usw.
