Project Promotion by German Ministry for the Environment (BMU).
In the frame of the Climate Initiative of the Federal Government of Germany the climate-friendly development of VVU is supported with 1.3 Mio Euro.
The investments encompass a energyneutral-building for eco-studies, solar-energy, long-term storage of rainwater below roads, water-treatment for further use and preservation of vegetation and climate-positive planting of 5.000 trees.
This started end of 2008 and ends spring 2010: The International workshop ClimSys2010 will be the start of the eco-studies at the new eco-center (named Baobab-center), will introduce and hand over all the investments and installations to VVU and the public .
All has been possible to realize with the help of the following partners:

The TV companie ZDF telecasted this report on april 6th, 2010.
The Ecological Devalopment Plan of Valley View University (Masterplan) comprised the following numbers
2. faculty building
3. composting toilets
4. composting of excrements
5. sanitary
7. sandfilter
8. greywater recycling
You will find these numers and explanation under the project Ecological Cycle Management, because there are diferent singleprojects. The concepts for utilization were set out in a way that they are reasonably connected and agree with ecology. One common goal is to as much as possible keep the campus free of traffic. The infrastructure is arranged decentralised in order to be flexible enough to react on changes in the concept and general conditions. The buildings are arranged in a way that their diverse matter flows complement each other. The collected matter flows are used in agriculture for which a vast adjacent area was demarcated on the campus.
6. Vegetation
The vegetation of the VVU campus is preserved and protected, extended and cultivated and/or managed. The microclimate hereby is balanced and buffered.
9. Climate-friendly vegetation
5ooo trees are planted, local ones and others like Cashew-, Mango- und Orange-plantages. Existing precious vegetation will be protected.
10. Baobab-Centre for "Ecological Studies"
This center for the new eco-studies at VVU, named Baobab-Center, is climate-friendly and includes solar-electricity. The center will take care of the future operation and maintenance of the ecological installations. More over it will served as institute for study and training of students and workers.
Rainwater-storage below roads will enable long-term storage for the long dry seasons. Water-treatment will provide water for various uses.
